The 2020 NFL Week 15

The Seattle Seahawks put off a late rally to clinch a playoff berth with a 20-15 victory over the Washington Football Team at FedExField in Landover, Maryland.

Seattle’s quarterback Russell Wilson tossed for a touchdown and rushed for 52 yards (10-4). Wilson entered the postseason for the ninth time in coach Pete Carroll’s 11 seasons.

The NFC East team, Washington, had a four-game winning streak leading at 6-8 standing.

Washington’s third-ranked pass defense restricted Wilson to 121 yards on 18-of-27 passing. However, he gave up a season-high 181 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Seahawks’ Chris Carson rushed for a game-high 63 yards on 15 carries.

WFT’s Dwayne Haskins, playing in place of the injured QB Alex Smith, was 38-of-55 passing for 295 yards with a TD and two interceptions. His teammate, tight end Logan Thomas, made 13 catches for 101 yards.

Trailing 20-3, the Washington Football Team scored twice in the fourth quarter. WFT got the ball back on their 14-yard line with 5:34 left after forcing a three-and-out.

Haskins drove Washington to Seattle’s 23 with 1:18 remaining. However, the back-to-back sacks by defensive ends L.J. Collier and Carlos Dunlap of the Seahawks forced WFT into a fourth-and-24 from the 37.

Haskins’ heave into the end zone with 51 seconds left fell short. Meanwhile, Seattle’s Russell Wilson hurled a ten-yard touchdown pass to tight end, Jacob Hollister, with 1:45 left in the first half to grant the Seahawks a 13-0 lead.

The Seattle Seahawks won the matchup with a 20-15 win against the Washington team.

Seahawks-Washington: 2020 Betting Trends

Game Notes

  • The Seattle Seahawks were notable in the 2020 NFL season, throttling the New York Jets, 40-3 at home in Week 14. Unfortunately, that victory followed a shocking 17-12 upset loss against the New York Giants.
  • Before their matchup with the Washington team, Seattle and the Los Angeles Rams were tied atop the NFC West.
  • Washington had a four-game winning streak and took over the top spot in the NFC East entering Week 15.
  • WFT scored at least 20 points in seven straight games after being held below that mark four times in their first six games of the 2020 NFL season.
  • The Seahawks gave up fewer than 20 points in three consecutive games.
  • Seattle’s QB Russel Wilson came off his fifth game with at least four passing touchdowns that year. He had 3,685 passing yards and 36 TDs against 12 interceptions in 13 games.
  • Washington switched back to 2019 first-round pick quarterback Dwayne Haskins for their game with the Seahawks because QB Alex Smith had a calf injury. Haskins had four TDs and three interceptions through four starts and the relief appearance.

Prediction: Seattle would score 20 points, while Washington would only score 10 points in their matchup.

Moneyline:Seattle (-300) was a little too expensive to back with a simple moneyline bet. They had to cover at least seven points on the spread for bettors to get the most value out of making bets on them.

Against the spread:The Seahawks -6.5 (-114) were expected to continue their revenge following their embarrassing loss to the Giants. If QB Alex Smith would not come back, oddsmakers predicted that the Washington team would have difficulty hitting more than 20 points.

Over/under bet:Russell Wilson and the rest of the Seattle Seahawks showed great offense in past matchups before their Week 15 game against the Washington team. However, oddsmakers still took the “under” 43.5 (-110).

The injuries along Seattle’s offensive line were concerning, especially against a top-rated WFT’s pass rush. Since Dwayne Haskins was back under center, oddsmakers thought that the Seahawks might add some defensive scores, so they chose “under.”

Seahawks-Washington: How to Bet

Moneylines

The moneyline is the easiest bet in sports betting and is ideal among first-time bettors. Just choose the NFL team you think will win straight up.

Point Spreads

Sometimes known as an equalizer, a point spread is a bet placed on the margin of victory in a matchup. A certain number of points will favor the stronger team, depending on the perceived gap in ability between the two teams.

The favorite team is represented by a minus sign (-), while the underdog is represented by a plus (+) sign.

Over/Unders

Bettors choose whether the total number of points scored by both teams will be over or under the total points set by the oddsmaker.

Prop Bets

A prop bet is a bet based on occurrences during a sporting event. These “occurrences” may not affect the outcome of the game or even the final score.

Prop bets are considered novelty bets since they also deal with an individual player’s performance or team milestones. Examples of prop bets are how many catches a wide receiver will have and which player will have the most rushing yards.

If you’re rooting for the WFT squad, you may bet on Montez Sweat, Chase Young, and Terry Mclaurin. But if you’re a fan of the Seahawks, you may want to consider the performances of wide receivers Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf.
