This game was the first time Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady won a game in Tampa Bay. After Brady threw a first-quarter interception, he played one of the best 2nd quarters of his NFL career.

The Pats proved again that they were able to bounce back after a loss. In fact, the team was a stellar 38-5 during the last 43 games after losing the previous game.

 

The New England Patriots also entered the game as the NFL’s leader in yards per game and second in average points per game at 32.3. On the downside, the Pats ranked last in yards surrendered and points allowed at 32 per game. 

During recent years, the Patriots had performed exceptionally in October, with a 13-2 straight-up (SU) record and 10-4-1 against the spread (ATS) 

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa entered the game with a 2-1 SU record for the NFL season with the hopes of making the playoffs for the first time in a decade. 

Defeating the defending NFL champions would also have provided the team with a confidence boost.
