Preakness Stakes Bets
You have all week to handicap the field, and figure out which horse offers great value. With Mine That Bird pulling off the big upset in the Kentucky Derby, it adds an element of uncertainty to this year's middle jewel of the Triple Crown. Keep up on the reports coming from the Preakness Stakes press reports, as there is usually good information about a horse's performance that can help to make your Preakness bets.
You also might want to put a few dollars down on one of the longshots.
2009 Preakness Stakes Odds
Big Brown won the 2008 Preakness Stakes, looking very good in doing so. Big Brown was the favourite, coming off a nice Derby win. In the Preakness Stakes, he defeated runner-up Macho Again by 5¼ lengths.
This year, the Kentucky Derby winner isn't the early favourite. The Preakness Stakes favorite is Rachel Alexandra, a filly. While this is unusual, it is not all that surprising since Mine That Bird was such a big longshot in the Derby.
Experts are expecting Rachel Alexandra to remain the heavy favourite. Mine That Bird comes in second with odds of 9-2. He will still attract a lot of attention from the sports betting world, as that is a good payout on a Derby winner.
Pioneer of the Nile is next on the list. This 3-year old has 5-1 odds currently, and Friesan Fire follows closely at 6-1.
All the odds can change as the action starts to build on this exciting Triple Crown race.
You can also bet on many prop bets for the Preakness Stakes.
